SHORT REPORT ON THE SECOND TRIP TO CONGO DRC / OCT. 2009

We have left Japan on October 21, 2009 and made transits in Singapore and South Africa before arriving in Kinshasa on Thursday, October 22
in evening. On Friday ,October 23 we visited the University of Kinshasa where we met Professors and attended a special ceremony of Doctor
Honoris Causa for Professor De Quecker, a rheumatologist from Belgium. Here are some activities and state of advancement of study project.

I. Activity in University of Kinshasa:
Meeting with the Professor Mbanzulu Pita Damien:
- Prof. Mbanzulu is the one who really took care of us from the beginning of our stay in Kinshasa. He came to pick us up at the Ndjili Airport of Kinshasa and was with us everyday, providing us necessary assistance (food, transportation, sightseeing around Kinshasa).
Meeting with Professor Jean-Marie Kayembe, Vice-dean of faculty of Medicine and the Dean, Professor Mampunza Ma Miezi Samy:
- Despite the fact that his father was hospitalized (he passed away later), Prof. Kayembe JM received us in his office and we share some views on inter-collegiate cooperation between our universities. He promised to send to Japan necessary information in order to help materialize the cooperation.
- Thanks to Professor Kayembe JM, we could meet and talk with the dean at His office; he really appreciated the fact that the faculty has already been in touch with Professor Suganuma.

He founded a organization that provides scholarships every year to some Congolese researchers. Many professors, especially from the Faculty of Medicine, attend the event.
